The Structure of Intermediate Phases in Alloys of Titanium with Iron, Cobalt, and Nickel
نویسنده
چکیده
The crystal structure of the intermediate phases in the binary systems of titanium with iron, cobalt, and nickel has been studied and the results compared with those previously published. The phases of the Ti2X type are face-centered cubic with % atoms per cell, and the TiX phases are body-centered cubic. TiFe, and Tic02 are hexagonal but not isomorphous. The nickel-rich phase has the composition TiNi, and is hexagonal.

Development of new metallic alloys for biomedical applications.
New low modulus β-type titanium alloys for biomedical applications are still currently being developed. Strong and enduring β-type titanium alloy with a low Young's modulus are being investigated. A low modulus has been proved to be effective in inhibiting bone atrophy, leading to good bone remodeling in a bone fracture model in the rabbit tibia. Very recently β-type titanium alloys with a self...
متن کاملA review of the requirements and hazards of toxic metals from orthodontic wires
Background: Orthodontics is a part of dentistry that includes preventive methods and correction of dental irregularities that need to be repositioned by functional and mechanical tools to provide an ideal occlusion and a beautiful face for patients. There are currently four metal arch wires used in orthodontic treatment: stainless steel alloy, cobalt-chromium alloy, nickel-titanium alloy, and b...

Objective: The aims of this study were to investigate the release of element from, and the biological response in vitro to, cobalt-chromium alloys and other base-metal alloys used for the fabrication of metal-ceramic restorations. Material and methods: Eighteen different alloys were investigated. Nine cobalt-chromium alloys, three nickel-chromium alloys, two cobalt-chromium-iron alloys, one pal...
متن کاملGalvanic Corrosion Behavior of Dental Alloys
There is a wide variety of dental alloys, ranging from nearly pure gold and conventional gold-based alloys to alloys based on silver, palladium, nickel, cobalt, iron, titanium, tin, and other metals (Table 1). The types of dental alloys have increased significantly since 1980s in order to change the market price of gold and palladium. Although gold alloys are the mate‐ rials of choice in this a...
متن کاملDissolution of Nickel and Cobalt from Iron-Rich Laterite Ores Using Different Organic Acids
Due to the decreasing production of nickel and cobalt from sulfide sources, the Ni and Co extraction from the oxide ores (laterites) have become more prevalent. In this research work, the effects of calcination prior to leaching, acid concentration, percent solid, pH, and stirring speed on the nickel and cobalt recoveries from an iron-rich laterite ore sample were investigated using diffe...
